Items Description · Qty · Rate

Description: what was sold. Qty: quantity (hours, units). Rate: price per unit. Use a point or a comma for the cents, with no thousands separator: 1500.00 or 1500,00.

    Discount and tax

    A fixed amount or a percentage of the subtotal.

    Sales tax, if any. It depends on the state and what is sold; check with your accountant.

    Rounding: each line, the discount and the tax are rounded to the cent (half a cent up). Tax is calculated once, on the discounted subtotal.

    Start from a template and complete the details. Check the account and routing numbers before sending the invoice.

    A thank-you, a project reference or terms agreed with the client.

    Questions about the invoice generator

    Is the data I enter sent to Atlas?

    No. The data you enter is not sent and the generator sends no analytics. The page only loads the site's own files; what you type or attach, including the logo, is processed in your browser. When the browser allows it, the draft is saved on this device only, and “Clear data” deletes everything.

    How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

    Click “Download PDF”. Your browser's print window opens: under Destination, choose “Save as PDF”. The invoice prints on its own, on Letter paper, the US standard size.

    Do I need to put the EIN on the invoice?

    It is usually not required, so the field is optional. Some clients ask for the EIN for vendor onboarding, sometimes with Form W-9. When in doubt, check with your client or accountant.

    Is the invoice generator really free?

    Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no invoice limit. By default, the invoice has a discreet footer line saying it was created with the Global Atlas generator; you can untick that option and remove the line at no cost. You can invoice in USD, EUR, GBP or BRL.

    Do I need to charge sales tax?

    It depends on the state and what you sell: many services have no sales tax, but rules vary from state to state. That is why the tax field is optional. Check with your accountant before charging it or not.

    Can I save my invoices in an account?

    Creating an account is optional. Saving invoices to your account is coming soon in the client area; the generator keeps working without an account and the PDF downloads the same way.
